About Cornwall Generator Hire
Cornwall Generator Hire is an independent family business run by husband and wife team Paul and Leoni who is thrilled to be in their 9th year of supplying generators hire across Devon and Cornwall, despite the difficult two years for our events industry.
Paul the electrician
Paul is an electrician by trade, and is responsible for all electrical maintenance and technical installations.
Paul started his career as an electrician working in the family business. With an interest in stage/event electrical, he progressed to working for Stage Electrics with the responsibility of the electrical installation for all outside events from small festivals to large headline acts. There was a missing market for an independent business to provide temporary power for events, regional festivals and weddings. Whilst on holiday in Portugal, the idea was formed and Cornwall Generator Hire was born with a pair of 50 KVA generators called Walter and Albert.
With his keen eye for detail, he encourages customers to think about more than just the generator. The area around the marquee can often benefit from lighting. Paul is known to return to base after an installation having forged an idea, sharing his vision with our customer, then returning to the ‘site’ with additional lighting, leaving the trees in vibrant colours.
Leoni provides customer care and event coordination
Leoni provides the customer care and event coordination for Cornwall Generator hire and is always available to provide advice and support.
With her passion for people, organisation and customer care, Leoni treats each customer’s event as if it were her own. She will liaise with the suppliers to take the pressure off the customer. Communication and organisation are key to a successful event, always a step ahead liaising with the Marquee supplier to tie in an installation, and coordinating with the catering team to ensure all the sockets are considered for the kitchen equipment. Her event management experience is paramount when a customer is looking to host a ticketed event, Leoni will share her knowledge, offering tips and advice for the organisers.
The rest of our human team
Harry, supports the electrical installations and maintenance, learning the trade under Pauls’s wing and having that attention-to-detail ethos we are proud of.
Georgia, who’s the social media guru and often shares our stories on our social media platforms. She learnt to tow a trailer and provide the installation from 14 for Agricultural show installations.
Not forgetting Adz who provides the transport during the summer season, often in convoy with us.
Interviewed by the press
Cornwall Generator Hire is keen to get involved with more local events, from gatherings and live music gigs to any weddings taking place in the area. “We want to be able to help more events locally in the Launceston area,” Leoni told Launceston Life recently. “The beautiful Cornish countryside is all around us, with fantastic potential to host weddings and other marquee events. Using Cornwall Generator Hire will turn out more affordable than using other national companies, as we won’t have to travel as far to get to you!”
Cornwall Generator Hire doesn’t just provide the power for your event, Leoni also acts as an event coordinator and can often recommend some fantastic suppliers for additional items to bring the event together. Knowing the suppliers, and how we all work just makes the event coordination run smoothly.
“We can offer a huge range of packages to help facilitate and coordinate your event,” she continued. “I liaise with the bride, event managers, marquee suppliers and catering companies to get a better understanding of what they need, and so we build really close relationships with our customers.”
Leoni, Paul and the team are always on-call and are very happy to chat with potential customers about any events they could help with.
Why choose us?
Our reviews from our loyal customers say it all, they return to us year after year for annual events. With over 9 years of experience in supplying generator hire across Devon and Cornwall, we are a company you can trust for your event. We are a small independent team who cares deeply about giving our clients first-class service. Our generators range from 10 – 100 KVA, trailer mounted, silent and beautifully presented. Our equipment represents our family, our passion, and our business.
Fergus
Our smallest and youngest boy, is a 10 KVA single-phase event generator providing 8 kW of power. Although small, an event would be lost without Fergus whose size is perfect for catering vans, stalls, audio, bouncy castles and caravans. Being small, he is easy to manage and not thirsty, with a 40-litre fuel tank that can last approximately 12 running hours.
Jack
Our Jack is a 17 KVA single-phase generator. He is the home bird who powers our store but often pops out during the busy season for a stretch.
Stanley
He is a 20 KVA single-phase generator. He is most popular for the longer hirers, and he often booked out for the summer holidays and will be spotted powering a popular local catering van in the county. His 100-litre tank is perfect for a long weekend run, known to provide on average 30 hours of run time.
Bruce
Bruce is part of our team of 45 KVA three-phase event generators that hold the fort really, are our most-sized sets, providing a decent 33 kW of power. They are good all-rounders with plenty of power for film sets, production, weddings, music festivals, stages, parties, milking parlours, agricultural events and multiple stalls. Bruce has a 100-litre fuel tank that can last approximately 22-24 running hours so a good weekend run time.

Twins Dillon and Rupert
Our ‘twins’ Dillon & Rupert – are unique and one of a kind and most probably the only set-up in the country. This set-up is a pair of 45 KVA three-phase event generators and mounted on one large trailer. There is a separate large fuel bowser on board too so combined, can provide 320 litres of fuel for those longer-running events. The twins can run independently or one boy running with the bonus of a standby set for peace of mind. The bonus of this is having a standby generator for a fraction of the cost and only one transport cost.
Victor
Our Victor the Great, a 60 KVA three-phase event generator, like the 45’s only bigger with a 280-litre fuel tank too. He is mostly seen powering larger stages and agricultural shows, popular with the Farming community for power outages.
Hugo
One of the biggest boys in our family fleet. Hugo stands tall and proud and has been popular with factories for power outages and the larger festivals in the region (Looe Live, Plymouth Seafood Festival, Electric Bay) to name a few from 2022. Our 100 KVA three-phase generator provides 75 kW of power and has 280-litre fuel tanks. Often it runs in a pair with an automatic change-over switch for those ticketed events or factories requiring constant power without a glitch.
Chester

He’s looking forward to powering shower blocks, food vendors, site cabins, and bell tents.
Douglas is dressed and ready for work.
Bert, Barry, Basil, Biff and Brian
These boys are trailer-mounted fuel tanks that hold 950 litres of juice. They can be connected to our generators for a continuous time. They also have an electric pump and nozzle to be used just like the petrol station. The festivals love the option of having one of the boys hitched and used to re-fuel around the event. All our generators and bowsers are trailer mounted, so those hard-to-reach places are simply not a problem with our 4 x 4 vehicles.
Idris
Our latest generator to join the fleet of our big boys is Idris alongside our others, he’s been popular with factories for power outages and the larger festivals in the region such as Alive Festival at Home Park, Looe Live, Plymouth Seafood Festival and Electric Bay. Often he runs in a pair with an automatic change-over switch for those ticketed events or factories requiring constant power without a glitch.
